The Scottish Government is responsible for a wide range of public services and policy areas, including health and social care, through its Directorates and Public Bodies.

The Directorate for Health and Care Finance provides strategic financial leadership, oversight and support for Scotland's health and care system. Its role includes promoting sound financial stewardship, supporting financial improvement and sustainability, financial reporting, and planning, delivering national priorities, and developing the skills and capabilities required of a resilient and future-focused finance profession.

As part of this role, the Directorate sponsors the NHS Scotland Finance Academy, working in partnership with NHS boards to invest in the development of current and future finance professionals.
